Creating Strong Introductions: Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

Today the students had the opportunity to see ways to engage their audiences by writing meaningful and engaging introductions.  Using the Circle Maps they created for homework yesterday, I worked to guide them through the process of brainstorming their ideas and turning that into an effective introduction.  The students then watched the following videos to help them see what does and does not work when trying to argue a point or persuade another person in spoken speech.

Homework:

  • Read for 30 minutes.
  • Study for tomorrow’s vocabulary quiz over lesson 4.
  • Create an introduction paragraph.
