Web Resources to Know (Edmodo)

Hello again and welcome back for the next installment of Web Resources to Know.  Today, we will talk more about educational social networking through Edmodo.

  • Edmodo

Edmodo: Apparently, I am  a little late to the party on this one, but it does have a vast array of resources that I would love to take advantage of for next year.  Edmodo is a social network for educators, their students, and parents of those students.  It is a closed environment, so students only connect to each other and their teachers through invitation only (which I love).  With Edmodo, teachers can use it in lieu of a blog, issue quizzes, prompt class discussions online, present a forum for students to post their work, etc.

The CCSD has forged a relationship with Edmodo to provide its own intra-county network as well.  As a result, I am able to link up with other educators both inside and outside of the county based on school, interests, subject matter, etc.  Furthermore, I can pick the brains of other teachers for resources to make life creating units easier.

Parents, keep a look out as your rising 9th grader may have a teacher or two who may be using this resource.  If they are, guess what…you can have access to view your child’s quiz results, posts, presentations, etc. as well.

Students, this is yet another way that teachers will be inviting technology into your learning experience.  Be sure to use it responsibly and welcome it into your education.  Let your teachers know what makes learning more fun by through your willingness to try such resources.

Have a wonderful time relaxing and stay tuned for the next installment of Web Resources to Know!
