Yesterday morning started well as the students prepared for the 8th grade writing assessment. While I can’t elaborate upon yesterday’s topic or any other specifics, I didn’t hear any student complain about it being difficult. That is certainly promising! I just hope that everyone did their best and feels proud of his or her work.
After the testing, the students began the basics of our next unit, which will be focused on the students producing researched-based assignments. They worked to present questions that they had about a couple of segments in MythBusters. They then recorded the answer they figured out by watching those exact segments which focused on how to escape a sinking car (how do you escape a car that is sinking underwater?) or on the 7-Paper fold myth (can you fold a sheet of paper more than 7 times?). Some students in my 7th period started trying to bust the 7-Paper Fold myth on their own.
