Now that the Writing Assessment is over, we can now turn our attention toward more of the research and literature aspects of English Language Arts. In order to chart our course toward the next landmarks (CRCT, moving on to 9th grade, etc.), we have to gather baseline data. Thus, today will be the day we take a Reading pre-test. The data acquired from this and the upcoming ELA pre-test will determine student groupings, differentiated assignments, and the overall lesson planning for the weeks ahead.  The students who did not finish today will be permitted to finish tomorrow, with Monday serving as an overflow day for finishing up the pre-tests and entering answers into iRespond.  The iRespond system allows for the students to receive an instantaneous score once they finish inputting their answers.  It also provides me with charts, graphs, and reports on which students answered which questions correctly or incorrectly.
